SHORT STORY: Detective A, at home, heard screaming outside her house. She went out to investigate and heard a female screaming “Don’t touch me. Leave me alone. Stop grabbing me.” Detective A called the sheriffs to respond. Detective B also heard the screaming and it was getting louder. The female was screaming “He’s killing me.” Detective B went outside and observed suspect straddling the victim and appeared to be choking her. She went silent and the detective thought she had gone unconscious. Detective B fired one round at the suspect. The round missed, but the suspect stopped. Detective A and B had suspect get in the felony prone position. It was determined that this was a family dispute between a father and daughter. BOPC FINDING: AD U of F: (1) should have taken more time to determine what was occurring. [08-15]
