email Commissioner Dale Bonner was appointed to the Los Angeles Police
Commission by Mayor Eric Garcetti in August of 2018.
Dale Bonner is Executive Chairman of Plenary Concessions, a leading
investor and developer of public infrastructure with its U.S.
operations headquartered in Los Angeles.
From 2007 to 2011, he served as California’s Secretary of Business,
Transportation and Housing, a position in which he led a workforce
of 45,000 employees and administered an annual budget of more than
$20 billion. As secretary, Bonner had oversight of more than 7,000
sworn officers at the California Highway Patrol, supervised the
operations of various transportation and business regulatory
agencies, and served on numerous state boards and
commissions.
Prior to serving as secretary, Bonner was a corporate and
regulatory lawyer at two national law firms and served as General
Counsel to the state Business, Transportation and Housing Agency
(1996-1998) and as California’s Commissioner of Corporations
(1998-1999). From 2000-2005, he served on the Los Angeles City
Ethics Commission and served on the Board of Directors for the
California Science Center and Exposition Park from 2004-2010.
A nonpartisan, Bonner currently serves as a senior advisor to the
Milken Institute and co-chairs the Los Angeles Economic Development
Corporation’s Infrastructure Council.
He is a 1990 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and a
1987 graduate of the University of Southern California, where he
majored in political science.
